Reg’s Many and Not So Varied Kaidan Feels

skiesovergideon:

After last night, with the anon attacks and gif reblogs of my posts making this face :\ at Kaidan, I realized I wanted to write something comprehensive about why I don’t particularly care for him. Right away, I want to make something clear: I don’t hate Kaidan. I don’t want to punt him off a cliff or leave him stranded alone on a thresher maw planet. I think it’s a sign of good writing and character crafting that one person can dislike a character that another person likes - and isn’t that how it is in real life? We don’t always like each other.

That said, I may not respond to responses to this post, whether they come in the form of replies, reblogs, or asks. This post sums up all my opinions and reasoning; any response I’d have to a response of yours would just be repeating the same thing, and I’m not one for apologetics or circular discussions that go nowhere. Most of my followers know that I’m not a very confrontational person either. Talking about beloved characters in fandom usually leads to confrontation or, at the very least, as we saw last night, some questionable behavior. So in an effort to keep things under control, I, again, may not respond to responses to this post.

I respect Reg’s opinion here, but one thing really stuck with me that I just cannot agree with.  That would be that Kaidan in same way broke Shepard’s trust by walking away on Horizon.  He believed Shepard to be dead for TWO YEARS, grieving over her and dealing with survivor’s remorse.  Shepard’s reaction upon seeing him again to be to invite him back onto the Normandy with new Cerberus friends.  How utterly heartless!  More than just walking away, Shepard would have been given a well-earned punch in the face from me for that.  Kaidan’s reaction is logical and much more level-headed than most would be capable of.  Shepard’s invitation wasn’t for Kaidan’s sake, but her OWN.  No thought to his pain or the sort of extreme emotional upheaval her return would cause.  Walking away at that point had nothing to do with breaking Shepard’s trust in him.

One of the very very few articles that agree with the fanbase and doesn’t make fun of the fans that want a different ending. Very nicely put. I suggest you have a read. Doesn’t actually say details about the endings or what they are and just mentions them, so it’s not even spoilery (assuming you haven’t been hiding under a rock and haven’t heard that fans think that the ME3 endings suck). Good article.

Oooh this is really good akshully. I was trying to explain to someone why I don’t feel we’re ‘entitled’ for wanting a different ending, especially after having spent over 150+ hours in the franchise and spending oodles of money (for me) on it.

People are surprised to see Forbes taking the stance that they are, but I’m really not.  They’re all about business and what they’ve been stating about the ME3 thing really makes a whole lot of business sense.

Massive spoilers for endgame, fyi. I have to say that this article sums up my own thoughts pretty succinctly.

Interestingly, it seems that Tycho has a different view on it: http://penny-arcade.com/2012/03/12/multiplicity

1. This is very triggering about bullying and suicide. Proceed with caution.

2. This is from Rolling Stone’s Valentine’s Day issue.

3. If you are a straight person in the Glee fandom, oh god, do I want you to read every word of this.

This is horrifying, and that’s exactly why you need to read it.

Ugh, I’m sickened.  There are times when I realize how damn LUCKY I was to not have had to deal with much of this during school.

Just reblog that post and I’ll randomly pick someone after midnight on Sunday 5th of February :D
